Well, personally I like the cold steel, particularly in recognition of your browser accepts 7 "carbon steel, stem, leaves, Bowie-style, very reliable and is one of the knife blade by the military personnel, including the Ka-Bar puppy SOG.
But my personal choice betwwen the two? Ka-bar, a cap has a better butt and a long history of track and then the SOG puppies.
I went with the Ka-Bar. Or, possibly, a step beyond the Cold Steel Recon Tanto. Or, even better than these two, I would be the Al Mar SERE operators. This is an incredible knife. Tthan is a little more expensive than the other two, but also worth the price. I've found in BladeOps.com and provide outstanding service.
I would be the Ka-bar. I have one, and it is a quality knife. and the price is right on these knives.
I have a suction Seal Pup Elite with a nylon bag and perfect for any situation. Sharp enough to shave and strong enough to break a record!
